Campus Fesztivál 2026
The CORE Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence participated in this year’s Campus Festival in Debrecen with a roundtable discussion titled “The EU and the Youth”, exploring how young Europeans perceive the European Union, European identity, and the opportunities and challenges shaping their future.
The discussion featured Prof. Dr. Boglárka Koller, expert on European integration and identity, and Janka Németh, a student representative of the International and European Advanced College (LUPS), who shared valuable first-hand perspectives on how young people engage with the EU today. The conversation was moderated by Annamária Kitta, Head of Office for Talent Management and Scientific Skills Development.
The panel addressed a wide range of topics, including youth participation in European decision-making, mobility programmes such as Erasmus+, the role of social media in shaping opinions about the EU, and the issues that matter most to young people, from housing and employment to climate action and mental well-being. The discussion also reflected on what it means to be both Hungarian and European, highlighting the importance of multiple identities in an increasingly interconnected Europe.
By bringing together academic expertise and authentic student experiences, the event offered a meaningful opportunity to engage festival-goers in a dialogue about Europe’s future and the role of young citizens in shaping it.
